Perched at the edge of a jetty looking out onto the Arabian Gulf, this all-wood restaurant pays homage to the sea and all its wonders. Finz has become a byword for fine fish and seafood in relaxed, stylish and convivial surrounds, but it has also won plaudits for its versatility across a range of styles and cuisines. Whether they’re wok-fried or tandoor-baked, only the freshest ingredients are used to evoke the spice and spirit of Asia. Meanwhile, the copper-pot Cataplana remains one of the few authentic Portuguese dishes available in Abu Dhabi. With a varied menu of meat and vegetarian dishes to choose from, Finz remains one of the capital’s favourite restaurants.
With over 20 years’ experience in the UAE, executive chef Patrick Bischoff understands perfectly the high standards expected at an emerging food destination like Abu Dhabi. Yet his life and career have prepared him well. Born in the Alsace region of France, he cites his mother’s intensely flavoured homecooked food as a major influence. Yet with spells in South Africa, Qatar, Mauritius, Oman, Greece and Morocco he also brings a rich and broad skillset to the Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi.
