We're delighted to announce that Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants 2015, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, is moving to Mexico. After two fantastic years in Lima, Peru, the awards ceremony will move to Mexico City for its third edition next September, with a date to be announced in the new year.
Elena Reygadas, who was crowned Veuve Clicquot Latin America’s Best Female 2014 at this year’s awards, is celebrating alongside fellow Mexican chefs at an invitation-only event at London’s Natural History Museum this evening. Benito Molina of Manzanilla, Diego Hernández-Baquedano from Corazón de Tierra and Mexico's Minister of Tourism are also in town for the big announcement.
Since its launch in 2013, Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants has recognised and rewarded the finest chefs and restaurants across the region, with Peru’s Central gaining the top spot in this year’s list. Over two pisco-fuelled years, these talented individuals have celebrated their success in Lima, benefiting from increased bookings at their restaurants after receiving the accolade. Rather than being a competition, the list is a celebration of the great gastronomic achievements of the region.
“It’s not about being number one or number two,” said Reygadas, who was awarded the Best Female Chef title for her work at Rosetta in Mexico City. “It’s more about connecting us and making us stronger.”
Mexico is well-represented in Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants, with 10 restaurants in this year’s list in cities from Monterrey to the capital. Enrique Olvera’s Pujol was named the S.Pellegrino Best Restaurant in Mexico at No. 6 on the list, followed by Biko (Mexico City) at No. 8, Quintonil (Mexico City) at No. 10, Pangea (Monterrey) at No. 19, Sud 777 (Mexico City) at No. 24, Manzanilla (Ensenada) at No. 25, MeroToro (Mexico City) at No. 26, Rosetta (Mexico City) at No. 33, Amaranta (Toluca) at No. 41 and Corazón de Tierra (Ensenada) at No. 42.

Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants will follow Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, which takes place in Singapore in March 2015, and The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, held at London’s historic Guildhall on Monday 1st June. Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants 2016 will also be held in Mexico.
