Okra is divided into two spaces: Okra Kitchen, a laidback izakaya serving charcoal-grilled small plates and natural sakes to an eclectic soundtrack, and Okra Bar, chef Max Levy’s fine-dining sushi omakase restaurant. Downstairs at the izakaya, Japanese-inspired dishes include Hentai pigeon tatsuta, fried chicken hamachi, dry-aged ox tongue and pompano sashimi, with every effort made to use the whole fish or animal. Upstairs at the bar, the menu is determined by what’s in season and divided into composed dishes, nigiri sushi, freshwater eel, soup and dessert.
