“The only Jewish bar in the city” nearly says it all, but not quite. The concept at Mitzva Bar is a little bit tongue in cheek, but the drinks are entirely serious. There’s an in-house laboratory for the production of an array of ingredients, which are used to create the more than 200 drinks on offer, hand-selected for each guest, without a menu in sight. The team here take the theme seriously with cocktails such as the Holy Land, pairing vodka with mango sauce amba and balsamic truffle crème. The bar itself consists of two rooms, one packed with kabbalistic imagery, and another with low tables overseen by the Freemason’s Eye of Providence. The latter is ideal for enjoying the concise Israeli-themed food menu.
