Billing itself as a “classic cocktail bar”, Yugen is certainly that, and so much more. Hidden in one of Ho Chi Minh City’s alleyways, it’s something of a speakeasy too. It’s also significantly inspired by Japan, in its appearance in particular, with its natural design elements and circular windows. It’s a clean, calming space that’s a breath of fresh air – an oasis for contemplating the exceptional drinks on offer here. The bartender behind Yugen is Dat Nguyen, whose primary focus here is on the classics. While there are some signature drinks, the core offering here consists of well-made classic cocktails, categorised by their base spirit.
