Wines of Argentina will take a central role at the prestigious Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants Awards 2019, an event that will provide another opportunity to confirm how well they complement the tables of the most renowned restaurants.
Located in South America, with a population of 44 million inhabitants and a territory four times larger than France, it is a country of outstanding natural richness.
This wealth of natural ecosystems includes vast grape growing regions stretching at the foot of the Andean strip, to the West of the country, from latitude 22° south to latitude 42° south and a cultivated area that covers more than 560.000 acres. In this context and over the course of five centuries Argentina has developed into the world’s 5th largest wine producing country.
Today, Argentina’s wine producers are breaking new ground and redefining winemaking. By combining exceptional terroirs of great diversity with classic and indigenous grape varieties, by mixing tried-and-true traditions with cutting edge technology and modern techniques, they are able to continually improve Argentina’s wine offering.
The emergence of new wine growing zones in Argentina is challenging the limits of production and offering new styles of wine. From the Atlantic coast to the arid, windy plains of Patagonia and the vineyards at more than 3000 metres above sea level, a whole range of flavours is on offer for the expert palate.
So, what is the limit for Argentine wines? Nobody really knows… But we invite you to discover them in this new edition of the Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants.
