The ceremony to celebrate the 15th edition of The World’s 50 Best Bars, sponsored by Perrier, will take place in Singapore on 17th October 2023
As part of its global journey and ethos to illuminate more bar scenes across the world, The World’s 50 Best Bars, sponsored by Perrier, moves to Singapore in 2023 for its first event outside Europe. With the main event taking place on Tuesday, 17th October, at the iconic Pasir Panjang power station in the city-state’s docks, the cocktailian community will come together to celebrate the best in bars over a week of events.
After the success of the 2022 programme in Barcelona, which saw over 85 satellite parties, guest shifts and activations take place within four days, festivities for 50 Best Week in 2023 will begin on Monday, 16th October, with the now-legendary Bartenders’ Feast, the evening that brings the listed bars together the night before they discover their ranking. The glittering awards ceremony follows the day after, while an all-new 50 Best Closing Party Brunch will bring the curtain down on the afternoon of Wednesday, 18th October.
This year's list of The World's 50 Best Bars will be unveiled in a ceremony at Pasir Panjang, the neo-industrial converted power station in the city's docks
New for 2023 is a brand-new concept: 50 Best Signature Sessions. Five of these events will take place in Singapore’s top bars during 50 Best Week, where international talent will work hand-in-shaker with local bartenders to create outstanding cocktail spectacles for the city’s drinks aficionados. More details on dates, locations and how to buy tickets for the 50 Best Signature Sessions will be revealed soon.
Voted on by an esteemed Academy of over 650 anonymous drinks connoisseurs spread across the globe, the 2023 ranking draws from the knowledge and experiences of the widest pool of experts ever. The gender-balanced panel will vote confidentially with polling requirements once again adjusted to take into account varying travel restrictions over the past 18 months. For more information on the voting system, see the FAQs section on the website.
In the run-up to the events in the Lion City, 50 Best will reveal the winners of two special awards designed to celebrate the exceptional achievements of one bar and one bartender, as well as those venues ranked in the extended list from 51st to 100th:
Michter’s Art of Hospitality – This award is voted for by members of The World’s 50 Best Bars Academy, who are each asked to name the bar where they received the single best hospitality experience during the voting period
Altos Bartenders’ Bartender – This accolade is voted for by the head bartenders from those bars on this year’s list, who are asked to name a peer who has done most to further the craft of bartending, with reference to their work in supporting the ongoing recovery of the bar sector in the wake of the pandemic
Jean Trinh from Alquímico in Cartagena was named last year's winner of the Altos Bartenders' Bartender Award for his infectious positivity and community-led ethos
51-100 list – One week before the awards ceremony, 50 Best will reveal those bars ranked between 51st and 100th via its website and social media channels
