No.50 – Eleven Madison Park
Eleven Madison Park has been on an upward trajectory ever since Chef Daniel Humm joined in 2006. Humm, who earned a Michelin star at Gasthaus zum Gupf in his native Switzerland before moving to the US in 2003, takes a contemporary approach to classical French cooking, with a focus on clean, simple flavours and seasonal, artisanal ingredients.
There’s a confidence and maturity about his creations – and plenty of substance to go along with his considerable style. Humm’s cuisine is complemented by a substantial wine list (arguably the best in the US) and a striking art deco building overlooking Madison Park. The restaurant won its first ever four star review from the New York Times in August 2009. One to watch.
