Le Calandre represents contemporary Italian cooking's middle ground. That's not to say that Massimiliano Alajmo's cooking is in any way average, but his cuisine is not extreme; it doesn't seek to challenge or confuse but is rather grounded in what is in season and what tastes good.
Last year the restaurant underwent a major refurbishment, doing away with tablecloths in the process, to better reflect the philosophy of the kitchen.
