The Lodge at Blue Sky

Wanship

Wild escape steeped in natural luxury in the heart of Utah

At the forefront of North America’s mountain retreats since it launched in 2019, The Lodge at Blue Sky – part of the Auberge Resorts Collection – is chosen by the 50 Best organisation as the first-ever Lavazza One To Watch, a title awarded to a rising-star venue with the potential to break into the list of The World’s 50 Best Hotels in future years.

Singled out for its understated elegance, positive interaction with the environment and one-of-a-kind offer of outdoor adventures, The Lodge at Blue Sky offers a glimpse into the future of sustainable travel. Spanning a stunning private area of 3,500 acres in the Wasatch mountain range that includes a female-led regenerative farm, panoramic hiking and skiing trails and mountaintop yurts for private dinners, it seamlessly melds luxury with nature.

Forty-six rooms are dotted along the contours of the creek or in harmony with the hillside slopes, ranging from high-ceilinged one-bedroom suites located in the same complex as the infinity pool, to free-standing creek houses with fireplaces for winter and large outdoor patios for summer. From stunning views to grass roofs, outdoor showers to floor-to-ceiling glass doors, all are designed to immerse guests in nature in all-round comfort.

A trio of dining options on Blue Sky grounds – including main restaurant Yuta, remote saloon The Tavern at Blue Sky and High West Distillery-based The Refectory – champion sustainably sourced, heirloom ingredients, many of which are cultivated at the on-site farm. Executive chef Jason Franey (an alumnus of New York’s award-winning Eleven Madison Park) conveys a local-first, sustainable ethos in dishes such as ricotta gnudi with white squash, zucchini and purple basil from the farm, or koji cream and Ossetra caviar-topped hash browns.

Envisioned by pioneering founders Mike and Barb Phillips, The Lodge at Blue Sky also features a striking cliffside spa overlooking the creek, where natural and foraged ingredients are applied to relieve inflammation and chakra-clearing tea ceremonies are also on the menu. But this is not a property focused solely on wellness: it also prides itself on offering ‘luxury with wild abandon’, with activities ranging from heli-skiing to fly fishing and horseback riding.

It is this winning combination of adventurous fun and sustainable luxury, coupled with a heartfelt commitment to the guest experience led by a team inspired to innovate, that sets The Lodge at Blue Sky apart as one of the most promising hotel launches of recent years.
