            Sustainable Restaurant Association

            Official Sustainability Audit Partner

            Sustainable Restaurant Association

The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) works to accelerate change towards an environmentally restorative and socially progressive hospitality sector.

Since 2018, the SRA has been the sustainability audit partner for Asia's 50 Best Restaurants, using their industry-recognised sustainability assessment tool to judge the winner of the Sustainable Restaurant Award.

The SRA defines restaurants’ sustainability using its holistic ten-pronged framework, and assesses performance across three core areas: sourcing, society and environment.

Sourcing: recognises restaurants celebrating provenance; sourcing fish responsibly; serving more plants and better meat; and supporting farmers and fishers.

Society: focuses on restaurants treating staff well; using their influence at the top end of the industry to promote sustainable dining; and supporting their local communities.

Environment: recognises restaurants that are working to reduce their footprint; from energy, water and carbon to packaging and single-use; and minimising food waste.

All restaurants from the 50 Best and 51-100 lists are eligible to apply for the award. The winner is the restaurant that best demonstrates that it is doing good as well as serving incredible food.

Learn more about the SRA's sustainability framework and read the award's Frequently Asked Questions.

            2019: Locavore
            2018: L'Effervescence

The SRA’s assessment tool, the Food Made Good Standard, is available to help chefs around the world tackle the issues affecting us all. Since 2010, more than 10,000 sites have benefitted from completing this comprehensive assessment process.

Not only does the SRA use the Food Made Good Standard to assess sustainability, it celebrates success and inspires positive change via its online community of like-minded hospitality professionals, which is free to join for anyone working in hospitality.
