Jigger & Pony

Singapore

From humble origins on Amoy Street to its now sumptuous digs at the Amara Hotel, this Singapore stalwart has featured in the top 10 of Asia’s 50 Best Bars rankings for the past six years.

The team spends months researching every iteration of its creative and consistently changing magazine menus or, as it terms them, ‘menuzines’.  The latest release is Smash! Billed as a fun, irreverent celebration of simple pleasures, there are 20 colourful cocktails, non-alcoholic options and sharing punches to sample. Don’t be fooled into thinking simple means simplistic, however, as Jigger & Pony’s signature style is present in every sip – take Strawberry Fields, for example, which mixes tequila with local strawberries and strawberry blossoms; or the Smashing Sundae, a childhood-evoking blend of melon, green tea, shiso and vanilla ice cream spiked with a somewhat more adult dose of gin and vodka.

If you can’t choose what to try, start with one of the cocktails that established Jigger & Pony as a Singaporean cocktail star: the yuzu whisky sour. There for a big party? Order a punch bowl to really liven up the festivities. Designated driver? The Pear & Hops hits the spot. If the food-forward libations aren’t enough, some inventive bar snacks like the marsala toastie or bikini sandwich (burrata, serrano ham and black truffle) pair well with the buzzy vibe and superb hospitality.
