Retro whisky lounge with a new-age mantra

Resplendent on the top floor of the Rosewood hotel, Lennon's is more than just a hotel bar. Loosely based on a speakeasy, the inspiration here is that of a mid-century home recording studio. Enter through the Vinyl Shop, housing some 6,000 records (ask the DJ to spin any you fancy, or buy one to take home), before stepping into a scene straight from the realms of a Great Gatsby novel: all floor-to-ceiling sloping glass, a spiral staircase slinking up to a cigar lounge and two matchy-matchy deco lounges flanking the main bar.

The drinks are top quality and the current signature menu, Bangkok Beats, reads as a love letter to Thai cuisine. Work your way from the Man Do-tini, which reimagines mango sticky rice with gin, coconut oil, dried mango, marian plum and Bianco vermouth, to the the Fa-d Thai Sour, which translates pad Thai through bourbon, peanut butter, tamarind, orgeat, chives and calamansi. Beyond the signatures, a Taste of The Golden Era list revives the sazerac, aviation and corpse reviver, and a dedicated American whiskey section runs from the La Louisiane to the Vieux Carré, replete with rare vintage spirits. The whisky library is among Asia's most serious, stretching from cask-strength Macallans to vintage Hibikis. The programme is overseen by KT Lam, director of bars at Rosewood Bangkok, who previously led Hong Kong's Darkside to No.9 on Asia's 50 Best Bars in 2023, working alongside bar manager James Kosil Kamja. A retro bar with a new-age mantra, this is somewhere that lingers long after the last record stops.
