Foco

Barcelona

Truly modern classics

Inspired by the world's Foreign Correspondents' Clubs – meeting places for journalists and members of the diplomatic, business and artistic communities – Foco is an industrial-chic space in the artsy Gràcia neighbourhood, where guests share stories over drinks, much like correspondents do at their fabled clubs.

Headed by British bartenders Tom Godfrey and Theo Quinn, alumni of Paradiso (named The World's Best Bar in 2022) and Two Schmucks (No.7 on The World's 50 Best Bars 2022), the menu comprises 12 seasonal cocktails, six classics and six bottled drinks you can enjoy there, or take away with you. The names you'll certainly know – pisco sour, Moscow mule, dry Manhattan – but the ingredients and techniques you may be less familiar with. The old fashioned is bourbon, maple-glazed doughnut, toasted milk and walnut, while the amaretto sour is made with Scotch whisky, mulled cherry cordial and apple and almond champagne. Some might argue you can't improve a classic, but Foco will have you thinking otherwise. While the drinks are all approachable, the menu also challenges people to try something different, and perhaps discover a new favourite spirit.

Despite racking up an increasing number of accolades and doing business in the relentlessly competitive city of Barcelona, Foco manages to retain the atmosphere of a friendly neighbourhood local, with regulars and tourists coming together in a welcoming space with a convivial vibe.
