Located in Thessaloniki, Greece's second-largest city, which has been steadily gaining attention for its evolving bar scene, Gorilla has become one of its most recognisable names. Founded by Achilleas Plakidas, the bar is built around the idea of "fine drinking and fun", combining a high-energy setting with a menu that remains grounded in technique. Since opening, it has built a loyal following, creating a space where the atmosphere is immediate and accessible, while the work behind the bar stays consistent. A photobooth tucked into the space adds to the sense that the night here is as much about the moment as it is about the drinks.
The latest menu, Welcome to the Zoo, leans into a playful, narrative format, presenting cocktails as part of a loosely structured safari while keeping flavour and drinkability at the forefront. Highlights include The Keeper, combining bourbon with white miso, honeyed wine and pineapple, Po the Panda, built around umeshu, toasted rice and fig soda, and Simba, a milk punch with reposado tequila, burnt butter, passion fruit and Oreo ice cream. The pace rarely drops, with guests moving easily between rounds as the night unfolds.
