Bon Vivants

Nassau

New Entry

Bon Vivants is a French term given to those who truly enjoy the heady pleasures of life, so therefore makes a very fitting moniker for this debonair Nassau drinkery. After opening its doors in 2019, the vintage-vibed space soon positioned itself at the vanguard of the region's drinking landscape through a strong focus on mixology, quality ingredients and historical inspiration. The bar itself is often referred to (most frequently by the bar's founders themselves) as the first true craft cocktail bar in The Bahamas, with the drinks menu and décor to back it up under the watchful eye of managing director and co-founder Kyle Jones.

Inside, the space is awash with eye-catching patterns, vibrant colours and gold-accented vintage touches, from the tropical-printed wallpaper to the palm-frond lamps. But it's in the glass (flamingo or tiki-shaped) where the real magic happens. Come during the day for espresso-based drinks, light bites or a cup of the bar's signature hot chocolate made with fresh Bootleg Chocolate ganache. Visit in the evening to work your way through a cocktail list that draws inspiration from Bahamian culture as well as the adventurous lifestyle of writer Ernest Hemingway in the form of creative house signatures such as The Long Surrender (tequila, curaçao, Scrappy's Firewater Tincture, passion fruit liqueur, lime, agave) and tiki-style sips. Bartenders go the extra mile here to champion fresh, whether citrus or coconut milk, making for drinks that maximise tropical flavours through modern techniques. When you've exhausted the cocktail list, turn to the spirit selection, which, at more than 400 bottles, is the largest on the island.
