Licorería Limantour

Mexico City

Mexico City's celebrated craft cocktail scene all started with Licorería Limantour in 2011. It might now have two spots in the city (with the Polanco outpost opening in 2013), but the but the technicolour, bi-level neon bar in its original Roma location is still seen as the godfather, and is still imbued with a party spirit that belies that distinguished gravitas.

Limantour can seem like a crowded scene, but an elite bar staff ensures that drinks flow fast – and always perfectly. Bar director José Luis León delivers a menu that celebrates its Mexico City roots with now-signature Limantour classics like the venerated Margarita al Pastor (tequila, orange liqueur, taco mix, lime) always on the list. You'll find Limantour's commitment to exalting its Mexican roots and its keen sense of humour omnipresent, including in the most recent drinks list El Menú que nadie nunca pidió (The Menu You Didn't Know You Needed), which focuses on what the bar calls forgotten misfits and guilty-pleasure sips you swore you'd never revisit instead of "chasing the Holy Grail of mixology". Think tequila sunrise, sex on the beach and banana daiquiris made simply and made well.

As recognition of its permanent presence on North America's 50 Best Bars list as one of Mexico's finest, Licorería Limantour was awarded the Rémy Martin Legend of the List Award in 2025.
