Overstory

A spectacular view of the New York City skyline serves as backdrop for Overstory, where the cocktail magic served up is just as memorable as the vistas beyond. Located on the 64th floor of historic Financial District building 70 Pine Street, the experience begins in the grand lobby of the Art Deco building, where guests are welcomed and escorted via elevator to the petite jewel box of a bar. There, an expansive wraparound terrace offers guests the chance to soak in the glittering energy of the city before (or after) settling in for cocktail service.

An array of elegant cocktails, such as the Puerto Escondido (mezcal, pineapple, banana pasilla chillies, tonic water) and zero-proof, ‘no buzz’ concoctions made with locally sourced ingredients take centre stage on the menu, which is supplemented by beer, wine and food from sister and neighbouring restaurant Saga from the late culinary titan James Kent. And, with only 28 seats indoors, each guest gets a front-row seat to the staff’s notoriously gracious service — the bar won the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award in 2022 for its “noticeably appreciative” way of making everyone feel at home in the space. In the words of the great Frank Sinatra, with such a welcoming attitude grounding the lofty experience, Overstory remains one of the most exceptional places to ‘be a part of it’ in New York, New York.
