Pacific Cocktail Haven

San Francisco

Pacific Cocktail Haven, situated near San Francisco's Union Square, is a destination for locals and visitors alike. Its pineapple logo symbolises an international tradition of hospitality dating back to the 1600s as the staff welcomes people of all backgrounds and their four-legged friends. Award-winning founder Kevin Diedrich has reestablished his bearings at this new location after a fire caused extensive damage to the space a few steps away, just as they were opening after the pandemic. Many seating options are available in this warm space with a full-length wooden bar, tables flanked by round, red banquettes accented with palm fronds and a front-facing courtyard.

Diedrich oversees an extensive, multi-page menu offering a host of cocktails sorted according to base spirit, while leaning towards Asian Pacific ingredients such as tea, guava and calamansi. The Rice, Rice Baby, for example, combines rum with toasted brown rice, mango, nori and rice milk into a tropical and faux creamy creation. Turn the pages and you'll also find various highballs, tropical drinks and punches good for five to eight people, including traditional English Pimm's Punch and the Mexican-imbued One Tequila, Two Tequila, with chili liqueur, orange whiskey, mamey sapote, pepita seed, citrus, bitters and soda. No reservations are accepted at this bustling bar, so adjust your party size and time of visit accordingly – the cocktails are worth it.
