Set on the banks of Austria's Lake Traunsee, Bootshaus has one of the prettiest views we've come across, either from the dining room or the rustic timber terrace, which is suspended over the open water. This converted boathouse restaurant is a part of the SeeHotel and promises to offer a gourmet experience without any fuss or fanfare, overseen by acclaimed chef Lucas Nagl. Guests can choose from four, six or seven courses of regional, seasonal produce cooked at the highest level. There's a hyper-local focus here, not only in Nagl taking inspiration from the Upper Austria area's traditional cuisine, but in the often-foraged ingredients. You'll also find a lot of seafood on the menu brought in by a network of fisherman – the importance of the relationship between chefs and fishermen was actually the focus of a book released by Nagl in 2023, demonstrating the depth of his passion on the topic.
