Hof van Cleve’s farmhouse exterior belies the elegant dining room within, where chef-patron Peter Goossens wowed guests from 1987 until 2022, when he handed the over the reigns to Floris Van der Veken. The attention to detail evident in the decor, bespoke cutlery, even the topiary, is mirrored in the kitchen’s approach. Belgian produce meets global influence in dishes that meld tradition and modernity: sea bass with ponzu, black rice and avocado, pollack with asparagus, pea and pistachio. Goossens’ stated aim is for guests to leave with a smile on their face and, with his creative menus, legendary cheese board and groaning dessert trolley, he succeeds.
