Housed in a late 19th-century Halifax property that once served as the owners' private residence, The Narrows has been turned into a charmingly traditional Nova Scotian public house. The result is what a good pub should be: warm, relaxed, with a quality food menu and drinks you'll keep reordering. There’s a distinct maritime vibe, with plenty of reclaimed wood, nautical paraphernalia and a refined rusticity that feels earned rather than curated. Cocktails tend toward the classic, but there are also seasonal kegged potions served in kitschy novelty mugs, plus plenty of lagers and wines to pair with the superb food. In the warmer months, there’s a comfortable patio, live music on Thursdays, Saturday and Sundays, and for over-nighters, rooms above the pub too.
