Winemaker María Luz Marín became Chile’s first female owner of a private winery when she founded her eponymous estate in 2000. Now assisted by her sons, she produces world-class cool climate wines from 50 hectares in the village of Lo Abarca, in the San Antonio Valley. Sandwiched between the Pacific coast just 4 kilometres to the west, and the Andean mountain range further east, you get sprawling hillside views from the family’s bed and breakfast, Villa Miramar, perched high up in their Sauvignon Blanc vineyard. Tours and tastings guide you through the modern winery (completed in 2004 and decorated with mosaics by María’s sister Patricia, a noted local artist), with picnics available on request.
