The Wise King

Hong Kong, China

50Best Accolades
  • No.28 Asia's 50 Best Bars 2021

Named for King Alfonso X of Castile, who ruled during the 13th century and is supposedly indirectly responsible for the invention of the tapas tradition after declaring all alcoholic drinks must be served alongside food. And The Wise King, which opened in July 2018 and is a new entry on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2019 edition, serves up cocktails and bar bites fit for any monarch. Try the ‘El Sabio’ (or ‘The Wise’, which is the house pour and features a spiced peach and pineapple wine reduction with Cava) with the Manchego croquettes. Plush decor and smooth jazz set the scene further. Just remember to get there early to grab a seat.
