Rather suprisingly, glittering views of the Marina of its namesake fishing port in Croatia aren't the jewel in the crown of Agli Amici Rovinj, the lauded restaurant by famed Italian chef Emanuele Scarello. It's a pair of tasting menus that really do the talking, from which individual dishes can be selected, championing innovative cusiine and elegant simplicity. While seasonally-changing, past stand-outs have incldued the likes of lobster with 'nduja sausage and lemon; smoked sardine, wild mushroom and citrus fruit ravioli; squash, mandarin, hazelnut and saffron risotto; and Istrian lamb with seaweed, sea herbs, capers and lemon. Because it's part of the five-star Grand Park Hotel Rovinj, you can expect suitably slick surroundings, both inside and out, with a smart clientele enjoying power lunches and dinner dates.
