Søllerød Kro
Holte, Denmark
Less than 20 minutes north of Copenhagen, the forest opens up to reveal Søllerød Kro, a historic thatched-roof inn that first welcomed guests in 1677. Surrounded by leafy parkland and serene lakes, the storybook spot feels wonderfully removed from the bustle of the city. Inside, the dining room is stylish yet inviting, with soft pastel furnishings, crisp white tablecloths and large windows that frame the abundant greenery outside, creating an aura of understated Scandinavian elegance. The cuisine leans towards luxurious French-inspired haute cuisine, underpinned by superb Danish produce. Local ingredients, global culinary techniques and a sense of playfulness shape the menu, resulting in beautifully composed dishes that balance flavour, texture and visual appeal. Expect dishes such as langoustine with pine, potatoes and crispy pork, or veal paired with stuffed morels and kale. An excellent wine list rounds out the experience.
