Renowned for producing powerful, pinot noir-dominant champagnes, Philipponnat is custodian of arguably the greatest single vineyard in Champagne – Clos des Goisses – a steeply sloped, south-facing site that creates complex, ageworthy wines. With more than 500 years of champagne production to its name, the house resides in the village of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ overlooking the Marne. From April to September you can take your visit at a leisurely pace by hopping aboard the charming Bullet 1927 boat and meandering along the Marne on a river cruise, where you can sip Philipponnat cuvées, devour dishes prepared by the head chef at the Royal Champagne Hotel, and take in the stunning scenery. Philipponnat offers an array of experiences including one focusing on the art of blending, and another that features an exploration of the Clos des Goisses vineyard and a tasting of the prestige cuvée.
