The star-studded Croisette in Cannes is no stranger to glamorous hotels, but few have a legacy as enduring as the Martinez Hotel. Dating back to 1929, the hotel has consistently drawn Hollywood royalty and A-listers to its Art Deco doors and sought-after dining venues. The hotel’s appeal today is as strong as ever, thanks to a series of contemporary upgrades – it joined Hyatt’s Unbound Collection in 2013 and underwent a multi-million-pound renovation to maintain its allure. French designer Pierre-Yves Rochon revitalised the Art Deco interiors, adding white lacquer furnishings, gentle curves and ultra-luxe marble bathrooms to the light-filled rooms and suites. Meanwhile, pale blue, yellow and white colour palettes, plus breezy balconies, nod to the seaside setting. The Martinez is also home to the Croisette’s iconic restaurant, La Palme d’Or – namesake of the most prestigious award at the Cannes Film Festival. Helmed by chef Jean Imbert, guests have a better chance than most to secure a coveted reservation at the Michelin-starred and 50 Best Discovery-recognised restaurant. Alternatively, the private beach club offers alfresco Mediterranean fare, and late-night revellers can rub shoulders with movie stars at the sultry Martinez Bar.
