Les-Baux-de-Provence is a fortified Mediaval village perched on a hillside in the Alpilles of Provence. Beautifully-preserved it is quite possibly one of the worlds most romantic locations, so it stands to reason that the village contains a restaurant as special as L'Oustau de Baumanière. There's no doubting the calibre of cooking here, overseen by chef Glenn Viel, whose brigade prepares a seasonal 10-course tasting menu which could feature dishes like grilled rare tuna, aubergine mousseline, Gascona grilled with Castelas, dill and fried capers, plus a dedicated vegetarian tasting menu. The restaurant has been open since 1945, which has also given the team a chance to assemble a jaw-dropping wine cellar, with over 50,000 bins to choose from, however if you're overwhelmed there's always the wine-pairing option.
