Georges Blanc's flagship restaurant lies in the superstar chef's hometown of Vonnas – population 2,000. Blanc follows in the footsteps of the three generations of women who have run an acclaimed restaurant here from 1872. And it's been Michelin starred since 1929. Now with a luxury hotel, spa, deli and boutiques selling branded homeware to his name, Blanc continues to champion regional specialities, including Poulet Bresse, the only chicken with an appellation. Forget KFC: this is French bucket-list dining at its finest. Menus change with the seasons, whether you go a la carte or opt for the five or six course tasting menus. And we need to talk about wine. The cellar has no less than 140,000 bottles, with sommeliers on hand to match the perfect pour to each dish. And you can even sample Monsieur Blanc's very own vintages, as he planted a vineyard in the Domaine d'Azenay in Azé in Southern Burgundy in the 1980s.
