La Chèvre d’Or
Èze, France
If La Chèvre d’Or feels a little too perfect to be real, that might be because Walt Disney himself had a hand in the fairytale setting. A big fan of the restaurant Robert Wolf had established in 1953, he advised that hotel rooms be added to complete the experience: to date they've added 45. Having stood on this site for over 70 years, it's easy to see that La Chèvre d’Or has remained true to its roots, with a damask-heavy dining room overlooking views of the surrounding countryside and Mediterranean sea. Chef Tom Meyer's offering celebrates delicate flavours with dishes including cherry tomato with green melon, myrtle and summer purslane water, and veal with fig leaves plucked from the kitchen garden. Note, this is a classic French tasting-menu-only affair (naturally), with a four orsix-course offering at lunch with five or eight for dinner.
