This is the grandest and most renowned of the three restaurants at the Hotel Bareiss in the Black Forest. Sit back under plush drapes, towering floral displays and twinkling chandeliers to be treated to the handiwork of Claus-Peter Lumpp. The revered chef has worked alongside the greats including Eckart Witzigmann and Alain Ducasse, and it shows: the restaurant has been littered with accolades over the years. But don't read stuffy. The ambience is convivial and the staff are friendly and helpful. Choose from a la carte or a variety of tasting menus, including a vegetarian option with inventive alternatives, all of which are seasonally led. Try the warm king crab presented with rhubarb, whey and sweet chilli, or the fried saddle of roebuck glazed with green pepper, elderflower and hazelnut, to go with something grand from the impressive wine list. Confiseries and chocolate candies from the trolley are the perfect full stop.
