Mandarin Oriental Costa Navarino

Costa Navarino, Greece

In the 1970s and 80s, Greek entrepreneur Captain Vassilis C. Constantakopoulos started acquiring land on the unspoilt shoreline of Messinia, in the southwest Peloponnese. He decreed that any new construction on the 1000-hectare Costa Navarino should be sympathetic to the landscape. In keeping with his wishes, Mandarin Oriental Costa Navarino has been built into the hillside, overlooking a golden crescent of sand with as-far-as-the-eye-can-see views across the Ionian Sea. The low-slung suites and villas peek out from manicured greenery, their living roofs, stone detailing and muted palette only whispering their presence. Do drag yourself away from the sunset views from your terrace and pool, for you won’t want to miss out on the holistic treatments, hammam, inside-outside swimming pool and visiting wellness specialists at the two-floor spa – or the buzz in the bar and restaurants. Guests can also make use of Costa Navarino’s sporting facilities and 18-hole golf courses – all of them meeting high standards of sustainable design – as well as nearby Navarino Agora, a waterfront marketplace with shops, restaurants and an open-air cinema.
