Six Senses Shaharut
Negev Desert, Israel
All eyes face outwards at the luxurious Six Senses Shaharut. Built of honey-hued stone, the acclaimed spa group’s Israeli offering blends effortlessly into the Negev Desert’s sweeping sand dunes. You’d never guess you are just four-hour trip from Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv; so remote is the location, it feels like you could be on Mars. The spa is outstanding: six treatment rooms offering all the usual bells and whistles, plus sophisticated, bespoke programmes to help upgrade sleep, biohack bodies, and detox and destress using local products like camel milk and olive oil. A rota of holistic healers descends annually, making for an eclectic selection at any given visit. Take your pick from Chinese-medicine practitioners, spiritual healers, aura readers and osteopaths. Amenities-wise, saunas, hammams, studio, and two poola are all to hand. Wellness extends out into the rest of the hotel, too: its 60 rooms are oases of desert-coloured calm, with the best being the private villas equipped with infinity pools that dangle weightlessly above rocky cliffs. Dining is Israeli-influenced and packed full of sun-ripened vegetables (note, menus tend to stay clear of pork and shellfish). Despite the spa focus, this is a family-friendly retreat: little ones will enjoy visits to the onsite camel farm.
