A painstakingly restored mill on the Italian-Slovenian border, flooded with light from floor-to-ceiling windows. Celebrity chef Antonia Klugmann focuses on local ingredients to create elegant, seasonal set menus. Watching her work from one of the restaurant’s 18 seats is a true pleasure. Lamb appears with nettles, smoked herring and asparagus, and beetroot gnocchi is lifted with sour plums and rose essence. The Friuli-Venezia region is known for producing some of the finest Italian white wines and they are showcased to their full potential on the excellent list.
