Imàgo

Rome, Italy

Taking experiential dining to new heights is the 2006-opened Imàgo, perched atop the iconic Hotel Hassler, at the top of Rome’s Spanish Steps. The restaurant is helmed by city native Andrea Antonini, a young chef who already has stints working alongside three-Michelin-starred chefs Joan Roca i Rontané and Quique Dacosta under his belt. This culinary pedigree shows in his inventive cuisine, which is best enjoyed via his “blind” tasting menu: the chef’s pick of the day à la carte offering, paired with superb bins from the restaurant’s impressive penthouse cellar. Take a seat in the cinematic sixth-floor dining room – all wraparound floor-to-ceiling windows and flattering lighting – to savour the likes of raw beef “agrofolato” style, blackspot seabream “cacciatora” style and spaghetti with smoked sea urchins and pecorino cheese, before repairing to the rooftop terrace to drink in glittering views of the Eternal City, glass of grappa in hand.
