New York Bar
High up on the Park Hyatt hotel's 52nd floor sits Tokyo’s most famous bar – thanks to its cameo in the Sofia Coppola classic film ‘Lost In Translation’. It attracts a crowd every day for its stunning night view of the Shinjuku ward. Beyond the view and film reference however, is a genuinely good hotel bar, populated with colourful murals and live jazz in the evenings. It’s buzzy and elegant yet never intrusive. Cocktails are mixed by attentive and knowledgeable bartenders who incorporate Japanese ingredients throughout the menu – think fine-grained wasanbon sugar, yuzu, sake and sakura cherry blossom liqueur. A post-8pm cover charge means you may want to arrive early and watch the sunset.
