Beit Trad
Kfour, Lebanon
A labour of love for its owner, psychologist Sarah Trad, nine-bedroom guesthouse Beit Trad was once Trad’s family’s summer hideaway. Bought by her late father in 1985, the ancient stone house had fallen into disrepair following her mother’s death in 2013, until Trad set about painstakingly restoring it to its former glory. Having opened in 2018, it has been drawing pleasure-seekers to the village of Kfour, a 45-minute drive north of Beirut, ever since. Graced with vaulted ceilings and sweeping arches, a honey-hued terrace with hanging vines, and antiques hand-picked from Beirut, Damascus, Aleppo and Paris; the house has a convivial yet calming ambience. Meals – run on an all-inclusive basis for guests – are nostalgic, buffet-style affairs featuring colourful, flavour-packed salads and heaped platters of home-cooked traditional Lebanese mountain dishes made with ingredients sourced locally.
