Set between jungle and a stretch of bone-white sand, Susurros del Corazón is where surfers come to play in the Pacific Ocean. But you don’t have to ride the waves to have a good time. This low-slung Auberge Collection resort, which translates as 'whispers of the heart', soothes the senses from the get-go, with its mellow design and the nothing-is-too-much-trouble attitude of its staff. The landscaping is clever, with rooms and villas dotted between the palm trees, arranged around a trio of tiered pools that slope gently towards the shoreline. One is adults-only, another is for families, while the third is a relaxation pool, and just steps away from the ocean’s warm waters. Rooms come in multiple sizes, but even entry-level are capacious, with Mexican-chic decor and sliding doors leading onto wide terraces. The Onda spa has a hydrotherapy pool, steam room and fitness centre, as well as offering immersive therapies, workshops and daily classes the likes of beach bootcamp and soundbathing. There’s plenty of opportunity to retox, however, feasting on big, bold flavours at restaurant Casamilpa or making your way through the agave-forward cocktail list at the swim-up bar.
