Bruma

Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico

Nestled into the heart of Baja California’s pastoral Valle de Guadalupe, the Bruma Hotel is a first-class, exclusive resort from Juan Pablo Arroyelo. The tranquil retreat is intensely intimate: just eight guest rooms and two villas sit on the mountain-ringed site which blends effortlessly into its dusty surrounds. Th is a vineyard region, and the hotel is a viticulturist’s dream. Guests can connect with the rural surrounds and the distinctive terrain by visiting the architecturally impressive onsite winery. It sits behind a striking silhouette of a skeletal tree, a recycled glass cube propped up by formally discarded wooden beams, and offers guest tastings. The 'desert cosy' bed and breakfast, Casa 8, offers stylist guests suites, and access to a pool, kitchen, living room and outdoor lounge area. Two concrete-and-wood villas, of a brutalist fashion, are available for buy-outs (with private pools). All guests have access to the fairy light-lit Fauna, the increasingly high profile restaurant from David Castro Hussong, alumnus of Eleven Madison Park and Blue Hill at Stone Barns, and pastry chef Maribel Aldaco. The menu at Fauna, which was named The Best Restaurant in Mexico 2023 by 50 Best, changes daily, offering pared-back but precise Mexican cuisine.
