During the otherwise dark days of Prohibition, it was common practice to hop on a Pan Am Clipper plane to somewhere exotic, where booze was allowed. Auckland’s Clipper celebrates this Golden Age of Travel by combining ingredients both local and from further afield into cocktails that have the power to transport you anywhere, in a setting that completes the illusion, with palm prints, hanging ivy and vintage travel posters. The cocktail list itself is inventively divided into lighter Long Haul drinks and punchier spirit-forward Short Haul options, alongside a compact selection of classic twists, like the Piña Colada Old Fashioned or Flat White “Martini”.
