Nay Palad Hideaway

General Luna, Philippines

Setting the bar for barefoot luxury since 2012, Nay Palad Hideaway is on the southeastern tip of the island of Siargao. While there are more than 7000 islands in the Philippine archipelago, this one is special. Aside from its golden beaches and wildlife-heavy mangrove forests, it's home to the Cloud 9 barreling wave, a surfer’s nirvana. Following a devastating typhoon in 2021, architect Daniel Pouzet worked with local craftsmen to rebuild the all-inclusive resort in his signature organic style. Ten double-height villas line the sand bay, each with pitched thatch roofs and two bedrooms – a master and an attic room – with hand-carved wooden furniture and four-poster beds, as well as generous bathrooms and outdoor showers. The infinity pool anchors the retreat, surrounded by communal areas such as the Dansuli Lounge, which floats in the middle of water ponds, the ocean-view restaurant (the menu changes depending on what’s available from the farm) and a tree-top terrace. A frangipani-fragranced pathway takes guests to the nature-inspired spa, and don’t pass on the opportunity of the Jeepney, where you sit atop the vehicle in a giant hand-woven basket to explore the lush jungle.
