Take everything you know and love about kitschy Amalfi Coast trattorias – colourful hand-painted ceramics, funny sing-songy service, flutters of parmigiana pouring over bright red pasta – and put it in a moody and certainly vibey space on the coast of Saudi Arabia. Il Figo turned heads when it opened in the summer of 2023, quickly becoming known for its very good pasta (yes they do swirl up truffle risotto in a big cheese wheel), delicious doughy pizzas and lemon pie the size of your head. While this sunny Italian spot is easygoing and no-frills, it’s more about putting on a show (note, the aforementioned spinning cheese wheel). Big groups like to come for platters of sharing plates of crispy appetisers and tiramisu by the platter. This is a perfect spot for celebrating something fun or hiding away in the corner on a first date, which will surely impress.
