Habra opened in Riyadh’s MEFIC Center in 2022, following its success in Kuwait, where it was hailed as the first of its kind. The self-styled “beef canteen” has a two-storey, industrial-chic dining room, the stainless steel and exposed pipework softened by plenty of warm wood, but it’s the open kitchen that draws the eye. While there are veggie options – a charred baby gem salad, deep-fried Brussels sprouts and a selection of sharing platters – it’s the meat that you’re here for: premium cuts of steak, including a 400g Wagyu ribeye and 200g tenderloin, grill platters and hearty soul-food classics. Representative of the care that goes into each dish are the beef sliders, which arrive as five individually wrapped 40g patties perched atop ponzu mayo, with Habra glaze and mild cheddar cheese sauce. Desserts are worth sticking around for, the deconstructed banana split, consisting of vanilla ice cream, banana foam, chocolate “soil” and caramelised banana, being one of the lighter options.
