This modern Indian restaurant in Cape Town is a real international affair, headed up as it is by an Irishman: acclaimed chef Liam Tomlin is at the helm. Opening in 2016 – two years after his flagship site The Chef's Warehouse – Thali draws on Tomlin's travels through India and serves expertly-spiced set sharing menus, with vegan and vegetarian options on offer. Snacks could include a sweetcorn and kale bhaji with black garlic aioli alongside some fusion-inspired dishes like a masala duck taco, with spice levels building as the courses progress. The stylish, industrial setting also includes a courtyard for outdoor dining, plus a separate cocktail bar for pre- or post-dinner drinks ̶ convenient as this is a no-reservations establishment, so you could be in for a wait.
