This minimal restaurant of Hidden Valley Wines nestles among the verdant foothills of the Helderberg Mountains in Stellenbosch wine country. Television chef Bertus Basson is committed to locally sourced produce prepared with great attention to detail. His menus have their roots in traditional South African cuisine (several recipes are directly inspired by his mother) but ultimately look to the future. Delicate yellowtail carpaccio with watermelon and shisho sits alongside beef sirloin boldly grilled on an open fire. The South African wine list is mostly local but does include some labels from the Elgin Valley.
