With an emphasis on the finest seasonal produce from the Garrotxa region, Les Cols serves a 21-course tasting menu separated into sections in an idyllic rural setting. ‘From our garden’ might bring carrot canapés and tomato seeds; ‘Living nature’ could mean zucchini flower tempura; and ‘From the hen house to the dish’ translates to fresh eggs in different colours with potato and green beans. All ingredients are treated with utmost respect and minimum intervention by chef Fina Puigdevall, who has owned Les Cols – the house where she was born – since 1990. On Thursdays, there’s an excellent value lunch menu, with five courses fro around $20.
