Nihonbashi

Colombo, Sri Lanka

Nihonbashi takes its name from Tokyo’s famed bridge, considered the centre of Japan. In Colombo, its namesake restaurant takes on similar significance for lovers of authentic Japanese cuisine. Opened in 1995 by self-taught Sri Lankan-Japanese chef Dharshan Munidasa – long before the success of his Ministry of Crab. The à la carte menu runs the gamut from sushi made with fresh produce bought daily from Negombo fish market to wagyu showstoppers, while the 11-course ‘karawa’ tasting menu option offers a comprehensive display of the kitchen’s range.
