Try not to be overwhelmed by the 650-dish strong menu at 7 Mehmet, one of Antalya’s oldest restaurants. Fabulous Mediterranean mezze and rice dishes such as pilaf with pineapple and bergamot stand out and its signature grilled lamb intestines are a local delicacy. Those that choose the pastry with mince meat, a recipe unchanged since the restaurant opened in 1937, become a part of the restaurant’s long and storied history: third-generation chef and owner Mehmet Akdağ has an immense sense of pride in his heritage and role as custodian. There are crisp, white tablecloths and prices reflect the quality of the menu, but it’s a warm, welcoming place where food is served family-style.
