Seraf Vadi

Istanbul, Turkey

Flanked by the hilly parkland that hugs the northern side of Turkey’s metropolis, Seraf Vadi pays homage to the long-held culinary traditions of Anatolia, interpreted through the contemporary lens of chef Sinem Ozler. The glass-lined building is impressive in itself, a dining room punctuated by soaring architectural pillars, floor-to-ceiling glass windows, abundant foliage and floaty white linens. Menus designed for sharing tick off new takes on stuffed rice dolma, and fresh artichoke salad laced in citrussy dressing and cave-aged Nigde blue cheese. Larger dishes run the spectrum from lamb rib, brisket and leg-stuffed lahmacun flatbread, baked in a wood-fired oven, to beef tripe stew or steamed sea bass with olives, capers and a lemon butter sauce. A restaurant to come to with friends, and a plan to order the lot.
